what is spiritual care?
Spiritual care is the communal practice of attending to our spiritual and existential needs in a compassionate, nonjudgemental, and intentional space. While some may seek spiritual care during times of crisis, illness, or significant transitions, it is a practice that can help us sustain our health and well-being at any stage throughout our lives. Spiritual care invites us to embrace a sense of connection to something greater than ourselves. The goal of spiritual care is to help us find meaning and resilience in the face of challenges while honoring our authentic personal journeys.
Spiritual care is not limited to any specific religion or belief system but seeks to meet us where we are, respecting our unique worldviews. Spiritual care is not a substitute for therapy, psychological counseling, or life coaching. It can, however, complement those things.
what to expect.
Spiritual care sessions with Kindred Resilience can involve a range of activities and practices, including but not limited to: poetry, prayer, journaling, meditation, music, mantras, and reflection. In addition, we incorporate the wisdom from ancient traditions to elevate the experience and bring in a variety of wisdom lineages, including mysticism, tarot, sage/incense burning, plants, and astrology. We curate each session based on what is most helpful and accessible to you.
how to choose a spiritual care practitioner.
It may be helpful to meet with a few spiritual directors before choosing one. You’ll need to discern what you are looking for in a director as far as religion, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, personality, style, etc. At Kindred Resilience, we specialize in working with clients who are Black, Indigenous, or other people of color, as well as those who identify as 2SLGBTQ+. If for any reason we are not a good fit, we are happy to recommend to you other gifted spiritual care directors. You may also choose to end the spiritual care relationship at any time based on your own discernment.
